Professor Jan Kaiser

Co-Investigator, University of East Anglia

Jan Kaiser is a Professor of Marine Biogeochemistry in the School of Environmental Sciences at the University of East Anglia (UEA; Norwich, UK) and co-director of the Centre for Ocean and Atmospheric Sciences (COAS).

He runs a research group with diverse atmospheric and marine biogeochemical interests, including nitrogen cycling between marine and atmospheric systems, novel sampling techniques and use of nitrogen isotopes to explore marine processes particularly in the polar regions and ice-covered environments.

Since 2015, Jan oversees the Roland von Glasow Air-Sea-Ice Chamber (RvG-ASIC) at UEA, a unique facility that allows controlled studies of gas and particle fluxes between atmosphere, open water, ice and snow as well as reactions in and on ice and water surfaces. He will use this facility in his role as co-investigator in the EISPAC project.

EISPAC is co-funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research and by NERC.
