Olga Ogneva is a PhD student at the Alfred Wegener Institute, Helmholtz Centre for Polar and Marine Research, Germany.
Olga was trained as soil scientist in Lomonosov Moscow State University, specialized in permafrost affected soils and carbon transformations mechanisms under cryogenic processes. Her research was focussed on permafrost peatland ecosystems, soil genesis, soil chemical and morphological properties, microbial activity and soil organic matter analyses.
She owns Arctic experience already, and studied permafrost peatlands in North-West Siberia (forest-tundra transition zone and south tundra) and Polar Ural. Olga is always aspired to investigate the Polar wilderness. With CACOON she is ready to go further North and East!
Within the CACOON project Olga will study the characteristics and seasonality of particulate and dissolved organic matter discharged by two large Siberian rivers Lena and Kolyma draining permafrost areas.
