Dr Benjamin Rabe

Co-lead investigator, Alfred Wegener Institute (AWI)

Benjamin Rabe is a senior research scientist at the Alfred Wegener Institute (AWI) in Bremerhaven, Germany.

His current research is focused on upper Arctic Ocean large scale changes in freshwater, circulation, stratification and impacts on biogeochemistry and ecosystems.

He is also involved in coordinating the OCEAN part of the Multidisciplinary drifting Observatory for the Study of Arctic Climate (MOSAiC), which will carry out standard observations and process studies in the central Arctic throughout a full seasonal cycle.

Within APEAR, he leads the German part of the project with focus on fieldwork and analysis of observations.

APEAR is co-funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research and by NERC.
