Project: Food Web Structure in the Canadian Sub-Arctic: Implications for Harp Seals
Supervisors: Dr Rachel Jeffreys (University of Liverpool), Dr Claire Mahaffey (University of Liverpool), in collaboration with Drs Robin Anderson and Garry Stenson of the Canadian Department of Fisheries and Oceans
Edward Doherty is a marine biologist, who is interested in the ecological role of marine top predators and the ways in which major stressors can impact their population dynamics. His PhD focuses on characterising the marine food web structure in the Canadian sub-Arctic with a specific emphasis on intermediate trophic levels, assessing the presence of temporal shifts in response to environmental change and the subsequent implications on Northwest Atlantic harp seal.
