Dr Christian Katlein

Postdoctoral Researcher, Alfred Wegener Institute (AWI)

I am a postdoctoral researcher in the sea-ice-physics department at the Alfred Wegener Institute in Germany.

My scientific work is centered around the light field in and under Arctic sea ice. In the Diatom-ARCTIC project, to investigate radiative transfer and consequences of ongoing changes on the ice-associated ecosystem I am responsible for the deployment of a specialized remotely operated underwater vehicle (ROV) and the deployment of autonomous observatories measuring both physical and biological properties of the sea-ice habitat.

Diatom-ARCTIC is co-funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research and by NERC.
