Dr Juri Palmtag

Postdoctoral researcher, Northumbria University

I am research fellow at the Department of Geography and Environmental Sciences at Northumbria University.

I have been a researcher in the Department of Physical Geography, Stockholm University. I finished my PhD in 2017, which was on landscape partitioning and burial processes of soil organic carbon in contrasting areas of continuous permafrost.

In the CACOON project, my focus will be on sampling the Kolyma River and its surrounding shelf area during spring, summer and autumn fieldwork in the Siberian Arctic. Work will involve sample collection from small open boats during trips to the coastal Arctic Ocean, measurements and manipulative experiments in the lab and data processing from previous field campaigns.

CACOON is co-funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research and by NERC.
