3rd Marine Symposium

19-20 October 2019 at Millport Field Centre, Isle of Cumbrae, UK

The Millport Marine Symposium was conceived with the aim of bringing marine science to as many people as possible, in a historic and beautiful island facility.

The breadth and quality of presentations on offer each year reflects the diversity and wonder of our coastlines and seas by bringing together academics, conservationists, researchers, artists and students to celebrate our marine heritage.

From plastics to policy, strandings to seaweed, seabirds to sharks; this year’s Symposium will cover some exciting themes with a mixture of local and international projects. We hope this event serves as a reminder of the importance of integrating different disciplines and specialisms to truly understand our impact on the ocean and its impact on us.

The Symposium welcomes all ages and backgrounds from academics, researchers and conservations to artists, students and families. This year’s event hopes to build on the success of last year’s conference by engaging a wider audience and a greater diversity of talks.
