Bhavani Narayanaswamy is a benthic ecologist based at SAMS, with >15 years’ experience specialising in deep-sea ecosystems.
My research has focussed on the diversity, composition and structure of the primarily, deep water fauna, living on or in the sediments.
More specifically I look to see how the community interacts and is influenced and affected by the different environmental variables ranging from, changes in temperature e.g. as a result of internal tides, changes in organic matter input, through to habitat heterogeneity and impacts from a changing climate.
I have studied the fauna found at the Arctic-North-east Atlantic boundary as well as from the Weddell Sea region of the Antarctic.
I am a co-investigator on the Arctic PRIZE project.
