Bart van Dongen’s research focusses on the application of organic geochemical techniques to the study of biogeochemical processes.
He is particularly interested in improving our understanding of the fate of the terrestrial organic carbon and nitrogen currently liberated from the Russian Arctic permafrost areas, and transported to Arctic shelf regions by the rivers and through coastal erosion, including the effects of climate warming on the remobilization and degradation on the Arctic shelf.
