Joana Nunes is a benthic ecologist at Plymouth Marine Laboratory.
Jo has over five years of experience setting up and running experiments and sampling the water column and the seafloor. She works mostly on studies of benthic communities, and is a chemist on the ChAOS project.
At sea, Jo will incubate sediment cores to assess nitrification and denitrification rates at the different benthic stations visited. Jo will also be busy at the pelagic stations, collecting samples for plankton ID and DNA analysis.
