Dr Hiroshi Sumata

Co-Investigator, Norwegian Polar Institute

Hiroshi Sumata is a physical oceanographer. He previously worked in the sea ice physics group at the Alfred-Wegener-Institute Helmholtz-Zentrum für Polar- und Meeresforschung (AWI) in Germany, and is now based at the Norwegian Polar Institute (NPI).

His main research interests are sea ice and ocean dynamics in polar seas, and their linkage to the global climate.

Within the APEAR project, Hiroshi supports analyses of physical field data from the Arctic Ocean, using his expertise in physical oceanography and sea ice physics.

APEAR is co-funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research and by NERC.
