Markus is a senior scientist at GEOMAR and a co-investigator in the Micro-ARC project. He is primarily concerned with the modelling of plankton ecosystem dynamics and with data analysis.
In his research, and also planned in Micro-ARC, he addresses aspects of marine biogeochemistry and of plankton physiology and ecology. He is particularly involved with data assimilation methods for parameter estimation and for assessing uncertainties in model solutions.
