Dr Sophie Smout

Co-investigator, University of St Andrews

Sophie Smout is a mathematical biologist at the University of St Andrews.

She studies animal populations and their changing patterns in time and space, and applies these ideas to the management of marine systems.

Her work has involved statistical analysis of data sets including mark-recapture records, survey counts and records of prey remains from animal faeces.

Key interests are in trophic interactions involving apex predators from birds of prey to whales, population modelling, and spatial modelling.

Sophie is a co-investigator in the ARISE project.
