Annual Science Meeting 2017
28-29 September 2017 at Glasgow Science Centre, UKThe first science meeting of the programme assembled investigators from all four projects at the Glasgow Science Centre to discuss the recent cruise in summer 2017 to the Barents Sea and progress of the projects.
We started the meeting with updates on Programme coordination from Kirsty Crocket, and the Data Management Plan from Jo Beja. We invited external speakers to participate at the meeting, with excellent talks on how best to contribute scientific evidence to the process of decision and policy making:
- Dr Cathy Cole, Dept Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS), on the role of science in evidence-based policy making,
- Prof Bridget Emmett, Centre for Ecology and Hydrology (CEH), on engaging with the process of evidence needs,
- Henry Burgess, Head of the NERC Arctic Office, on supporting UK research in the Arctic.
Thereafter followed individual sessions focused on each of the projects, with a closing session on the different approaches to modelling adopted by the projects.
Please see the meeting schedule for a list of the speakers and talks.
